Serghei Tanas

Second Violin

Serghei Tanas was born in Kishinev, Moldova Republic. At the age of seven, he attended the musical school for talented children in the same city. He graduated in 1985 and entered the State Conservatory of Moldova Republic. Serghei studied violin with Russian teachers, including Nicolai Opritza.

During studies at the Conservatory, Serghei auditioned for the Philharmonic State Chamber Orchestra, and he became a member of that group in 1986. After his graduation in 1992, Mr. Tanas won a Concertmaster position, playing solo on various programs and most of the baroque style repertory. The Philharmonic State Chamber Orchestra exhibited its potential during numerous tours in Europe, Israel and the United States.

In 1995 Serghei joined the George Enescu Philharmonic in Bucharest, Rumania. He moved to Spain in 1996 where he worked with the Orquesta Sinfonica de La Coruna in Galicia. Mr. Tanas soon moved to the United States and started playing in the New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware area. During this time he took private lessons with Dmitry Levin, a member of the Philadelphia Orchestra since 1984, to whom he is very thankful for the knowledge and orchestral experience he acquired.

Serghei joined the Alabama Symphony Orchestra in 1998.
