Nominate Your Student for the Rising Star Award
Give a boost to a young musician between the ages of 10 and 12.

Deadline Extended to September 1, 2011!

The purpose of the Rising Star Award is to provide the opportunity for a young person, who may not otherwise be able to afford music lessons, to excel in the early stages of their development and work toward auditioning for the Alabama Symphony Youth Orchestra.

Teachers, relatives, or other adults can nominate a young musician between the ages of 10 and 12 who plays an orchestral instrument (string, woodwind, brass, percussion).

Recipient of the award receives their own instrument and five years of private instruction with an ASO Musician.

This year's award is sponsored by Connie and Fred McCollum and will be presented at the Maestro's Ball on September 9.

The 2010-11 recipient Corey Walker was sponsored by Elaine and Justin Brown and was presented with a trombone. He is now a 7th grader at Green Acres Middle School and is in his second year of studying with ASO trombonist Nicole Abissi.
