Nicole Abissi Trombone
Nicole Abissi began her first season with The Alabama Symphony in 2009. She started her formal music education early by attending Interlochen Arts Academy in 2001 where she studied under Thomas Riccobono. Following her graduation from Interlochen Nicole enrolled in The Juilliard School where she studied under Joseph Alessi and received her Bachelor of Music degree. She has attended the Aspen Music Festival in the summers of 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2007 studying with Per Brevig each time. In the summer of 2007 she was also a featured participant at the Alessi Seminar in Albuquerque New Mexico. Following graduation from The Juilliard School she received a fellowship with The New World Symphony in Miami Beach working with Michael Tilson Thomas where she played for two years before making Birmingham her home. When she is not making music she is playing with her dog, Zoe.
