
Genevieve Briggs joined the Alabama Symphony Orchestra in the 2006-2007 season. Before joining the ASO, Ms. Briggs was a member of the United States Army Band, "Pershing's Own", in Washington D.C. Ms. Briggs also performs regularly as an extra musician with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra.
Originally from Allen, Texas, Ms. Briggs began her education at nearby, University of North Texas. After receiving her Bachelor of Music degree in 1999, she continued her studies at Yale University, where she received a Master of Music degree in 2002. While still a student, Ms. Briggs was the co-principal flutist of the Orquesta Sinfonica de Mineria, in Mexico City for the 2001 and 2002 summer seasons.
As an educator, Ms. Briggs is dedicated to teaching students of all ages. She maintains an active private studio in Birmingham, as well as being Adjunct Faculty at the University of Montevallo and the University of Alabama, Birmingham.
While a Texan at heart, Ms. Briggs is proud to call Birmingham home. If not teaching, practicing or performing you can find her walking her dog, Ozo, (named after the band Ozomatli) around local parks four times a day.
