As quoted in a biography of the composer, Fauré once said "... it is thus that I see death: as a happy deliverance, an aspiration towards happiness above, rather than as a painful experience." His Requiem stands apart from others for this very reason; Fauré wrote a spare and subtle orchestration to allow the beauty of the human voice to shine forth. This gentle, gorgeous composition is the perfect showpiece for the talented Alabama Symphony Orchestra Chorus.
